Would acne cause an employer not to hire me?

How likely do you think it would be for someone to not hire me based purely upon the fact that I have acne? The way I see it, physical flaws such as acne look very unprofessional and sloblike in the eyes of others, even though acne sufferers may be doing everything they can to enhance their appearance. This is my main worry for my upcoming job interviews despite my impressive credentials and my resume. Can anyone help me through this problem?Would acne cause an employer not to hire me?
It depends on the position. / As a business owner I can see an employer not hiring someone who has acne.

If this person represents their business in face-to-face customer-relations it could jeopardize sales and/or continued contracts. // It's just an example of how shallow humans are but IT IS a reality and that's what businesses HAVE-TO deal with in order to stay competitive. (reality)

I would offer a qualified applicant another position and leave them the choice.Would acne cause an employer not to hire me?
That would be discrimination if your employer was not to hire you based on acne. If your gender is male, you should be ok. Even though it is a double standard to say that against women, however, you may be subject to a glass ceiling if this is a type of career where looks are important (actor, model, etc, makeup consultant, etc). You should be fine. Oh, PROACTIV SOLUTION works, It worked for my acne problem. Now, I don't have an acne problem. GOOD LUCK on the INTERVIEW, and remember, Just be yourself !!
If you are applying jobs that put you in the public eye it may

its not fair but happens see a dermatologist
Go to your local doctor and ask if ';clobetasol propionte'; ointment can be used for it. It is by prescription only and you have to ASK their advice and see if it is something that will work on your case. You have to use it sparingly and not get it in your eyes or ears or open cuts. In other words you can't be picking at them while using it. It works very well. An old family doctor prescribed it for mine years ago and it cleared them right up.
This really depends on the employer, and the type of job you are applying for. Some employers like employers in retail, make up problems, not to interview and hire a certain job applicant. Even if you qualify for the job, some employers will turn you down for the job, if they don't like you. Many things can turn you down for a job, but often it is the employers. I have a qaulified for a job in retail everytime I applied for a job. I was turned down for an interview everytime for no reason, so it really depends on the employer. They will only interview and hire, the applicants they like and want.
You answered your own question. Yes it is a problem for the interview, and it is even worse if the job has anything to do with the general public.

FORGET about a job in the food industry...

BUT... Your Doctor should be able to give you antibiotics to clear up the skin condition. Each acne bleb is basically a small local infection. The antibiotics will clear them up long enough for your interviews. Then what happens after your hired is up to you.

There has been some treatment with hormones as well but I do not know enough about that to say anything other than ask your Doc about it.

Either way tell your Doc that you need to be cleared up for some interviews and see what he does for you...
Employers are much like the Justice system, religion and politics. They hire based upon looks, status, or name.
employers would never admit to not hiring anyone with acne, but if you are a real pizza face, i could see you having more problems getting a job, then some one who is not a pizza face,.....
Acne, in itself, will not bar employment.

However, it is a common psychological tendency that employers will hire more objectively ';beautiful'; people more often than objectively ';unattractive'; people. It might affect that.

But I wouldn't worry. You should have more than enough experience to gain employment.
It's not illegal, as acne is not a protected group. It is unfortunate, but if someone won't hire you because of your acne, then they are probably not worth working for, anyway.

Try not to worry about it. Appear confident and your personality will make the acne less prominent. I can say that because I have psoriasis on my forearms, but I don't wear long-sleeved shirts unless it is cold. There are much worse conditions people can have, so I'll take the psoriasis, and if somebody doesn't like it, too bad.

If you think about it, there are people with skin cancer and other things who would trade it for acne any day.

In addition to a dermatologist, even if you are a guy, get some cosmetic powder to match your skin tone (preferably custom blended). Applied lightly, it will absorb some of the oiliness.
Work at drying out tour skin, alcohol works. If you must use make up? But society all ways favors the better looking.
something like that you can't help, you shouldn't be discriminated against because of a physical flaw. if you feel like that is a factor you can always report that place of business
